Located at the Rego Center shopping mall in Queens, New York, the store offers a full range of products across 115,000 sq. ft. of space (about half the size of an average Ikea). The products and featured room sets are designed to meet the lifestyle of New Yorkers, with a focus on small-space living solutions. (For a video of the store, click here.)

The new Ikea offers thousands of items that customers can purchase on-site and take home. The larger furniture items on display can be ordered for home delivery at a flat-rate fee of $49 for anywhere in New York City. Shoppers can use self-pay and assisted-checkout options and schedule appointments with Ikea associates to map out kitchens, living rooms, and bedrooms.

The Queens store is Ikea’s third location in New York City. The chain also has a store in Brooklyn and a 17,350-sq.-ft. “planning studio” in Manhattan. Ikea recently opened a customer fulfillment center in Staten Island to support demand in the market.

“At Ikea we’re on a journey to transform our business to meet our customers wherever they are and how they like to shop,” said Javier Quiñones, president & chief sustainability officer, Ikea Retail U.S. “As life at home has taken on a new meaning this year for so many people, our customers’ needs and behaviors are changing too, and we hope our new Queens store will serve as a convenient and accessible source of inspiration and home furnishing expertise for New Yorkers.”

As part of Ikea’s global commitment to sustainability, the company has a goal of completing 100% of last-mile deliveries in New York City via electric vehicle by the end of January 2021.
